I am currently a student with UNT’s Department of Biomedical Engineering pursuing a BS in Biomedical Engineering with a double minor in Materials Science and Engineering and Mathematics; in addition, I’m enrolled in GradTrack to receive my MS in Biomedical Engineering. I am a member of EckerLab completing research on natural based hydrogels, with my current work focusing on the fabrication and characterization of a gelatin derived hydrogel. I am also working with my senior design team on our capstone project; we’re working with a child to design and fabricate a passive pediatric exoskeleton with added trunk support. This project is very meaningful as I am a mother of a young son and I’m excited to have the opportunity to directly impact the lives of others. Being a mother and a student has been a unique challenge but I’ve received a lot of support and encouragement from the department faculty and my fellow students to be able to manage both.
